Paint Correction & Wet Sanding
Paint correction is a term commonly used by both professional car detailers and car cleaning enthusiasts worldwide to describe the process of restoring and rejuvenating the paintwork of a vehicle, mostly through the elimination of surface imperfections. The corrective process itself comprises of a fine layer of clear coat being removed from the surface with the use of nano technology micro abrasives, which are applied and worked in with appropriate polishing machines, in order to level out the surface.
- Single Step Paint Correction – Recommended for newer and/or maintained vehicles. A mild abrasive polish is applied with a medium polishing pad to remove light to moderate swirls and scratches and restore the original gloss. The vehicle is then finished off with application of a wax or synthetic sealant. Starting at $399*
- Multiple Step Paint Correction – Recommended for vehicles with heavier paint defects. Two or more polishing stages are performed, starting with a heavy abrasive to remove deep swirls and scratches and fine polished to its original gloss finish. The vehicle is then finished off with application of a wax or synthetic sealant. Starting at $699*
Wet sanding is required to correct bad paint jobs with severe orange peel, or to achieve a concours level finish. The process of wet sanding includes sanding the clear coat with various grits of sandpaper to remove the orange peel texture; multiple steps of polishing are then performed which results in a flat mirror-like finish. On average, wet sanding a vehicle can take upwards of 40+ hours.
Paint correction and wet sanding have several different variables that dictate how much work is required for each individual project, as such, the vehicle must be seen in person for a free paint assessment. In addition to the paint correction, we highly recommend a ceramic protective coating.
